AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
To promote and enhance the development of the Mining and Solid Minerals sector as a verifiable tool for diversification of the economy and become a fulcrum to build an industrial base. This is against the background of the fact that the NIGERIA MINERALS APPRAISAL AND MONETISATION PROGRAMME (NIMAMOP) had in 1997 discovered over 450 viable solid minerals and thereby forecasting mining as having more prospects for Nigeria than oil.
To promote the uniqueness and viability of Nigeria’s minerals and showcase same worldwide to attract investors and business partnership.
To promote global standards and international practices in mining operations and thereby combating illegal mining, smuggling and securing mining sites and communities.
To promote the strengthening of the Legislative and Regulatory Framework in mining and solid minerals development.
To facilitate successful investment cum participation of Investors and State Governments in mining and solid minerals businesses.
To mainstream mining and solid minerals development in economic planning as the Second Growth Factor.
